Our Staff
People you can trust
At The Son Rise School, we care for your children the same way we care for our own.
Our staff must meet the highest standards:
- Your child will be taught by highly-qualified, certified teachers. Each teacher continues to receive at least 30 hours of certified training per year.
- All staff members are trained and certified in Pediatric first aid and CPR.
- All staff members must pass a background check that includes fingerprint analysis through three databases.
- We maintain low teacher-student ratios, compliant with child care licensing regulations, so we can attend to each child’s individual needs throughout our scheduled daily activities.
- Most importantly, all staff must demonstrate a pattern of living and caring for children that aligns with our mission.
Meet our team leaders
Gwen Seivley, Owner
Gwen has always loved caring for children. She bought The Son Rise School in 2012 after hearing God’s prompting to buy the school and turn it into a Christian daycare center. Here’s what Gwen says she has learned from nearly 40 years of working in daycare:
—”I’ve learned that it’s important to keep my priorities in order. God always comes first. Family is second, and work third. My God will never leave me or forsake me and will supply all my needs.
—”I’ve learned that each child in our center is a gift God has sent to us. Each child should have a chance to experience a childhood full of happy memories, like stored up treasures to reflect on for a lifetime. I want our children to be able to look back and say, ‘I remember the good times we had. How fortunate I was to be part of that family. I know those teachers helped shape and mold me into the person I am today.’
—”At the end of every day, I still ask myself, ‘Did all my friends have fun playing today?’ And I make sure I can answer, ‘Yes, ahhh, yes, they did!'”
Miss Amanda, Center Director
Amanda was raised in Gladewater and is a proud mother of seven children — three boys and four girls — as well as a loving grandmother. She enjoys working and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.
Amanda believes her work is both important and purposeful:
“I truly believe God placed me where I am today. I trust in Him to help guide me as I care for and love these children each day. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.”
Amanda has worked in Early Childhood Education for over 20 years. She began her career teaching in the Pre-K classroom and spent many years helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. After 12 years in the classroom, she transitioned into a Director role, where she has continued to serve children, families, and staff with dedication and passion. She has served as Director of The Son Rise School since 2019.
Amanda is certified as a Director according to Child Care Licensing Requirements and completes yearly professional development training focused on child development, education, leadership, and quality care in order to maintain her certification.
Her goal is to make a positive, loving, and encouraging impact on every child, every single day.
